Mexican Bird Of Paradise Flower In A Desert Garden

My wife and I went with friends to photograph the recent lunar eclipse in the Anza Borrego desert. It was quite hot during the day (around 105 degrees), but these flowers in the garden of the hotel where we stayed in Borrego Springs clearly can handle the heat. Thanks to Flickr member Chrys Goote, I now know that these are Mexican Bird of Paradise flowers.

Lit with a YN560-III in an 8.6 inch Lastolite softbox hand held (by my wife) above and to the right of the flowers. The flash in manual mode was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.

Other plants, flowers, fruit or thingys that I've photographed using strobes can be seen in my Strobe Lit Plant set. In the description for that set, I list resources that I've used to learn how to light with off camera flash. www.flickr.com/photos/9422
