Red On Green
This was taken in the garden this morning. I used a macro lens with a polarizer and an exposure of f13, 1/80 with iso 100. This allowed for the primarily green background to go quite dark, and I then used a YN560 in an 8.6 inch Lastolite soft box as the main light for the flowers. I used a voice activated light stand (my wife Maria) to hold the softbox camera left at about 10 o'clock. The flash was in manual mode and was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.
Other plants, flowers, fruit or thingys that I've photographed using strobes can be seen in my Strobe Lit Plant set. In the description for that set, I list resources that I've used to learn how to light with off camera flash, and the equipment that I use. www.flickr.com/photos/9422
