Getting A Sugar Fix

This Anna's Hummer had somehow gotten by the psychotic Rufous Hummingbird that was trying to close down all traffic to what it considered to be its personal feeder. My sister and brother-in-law have two hummingbird feeders, but the one that has the best background for photography is patrolled by the above mentioned psycho bird, so photography was extremely difficult today. Still it was really fun to watch one tiny little bundle of terror drive off 15 or 20 bigger bigger Anna's Hummingbirds. These birds are beautiful and amazing, but we're all very lucky that hummingbirds aren't the size of cats, or we would all be in grave danger.

Lighting info: I put a bare YN560 and a bare YN560-II on a light stand camera left and a Strobie 130 on another stand camera right. I used an exposure that recorded some ambient light while most of the light on the birds came from strobes which helped to freeze the action. The strobes, in manual mode, were triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.

Other hummingbird pictures I've take are in my Hummingbird album. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157627149575339/
