Symmetry in Nature

Over the years we've harvested a lot of interesting things from the beaches in Baja. Whale vertebrae, sea lion bones and vertebrae, dolphin vertebrae, turtle shells and sea shells. I think that this might be a dolphin vertebrae, but I'm not positive. I've brought home some of everything except the turtle shells. U.S. border immigration is getting really difficult about bringing some of these beach treasures back into the U.S. The whale vertebrae was brought back at least fifteen years ago. I wouldn't do it now. Three years ago immigration took away a sea gull skull. Go figure.

Strobist info: Lit with one YN560-II in a 24 inch softbox, camera left, about 4 inches from the bone. I used a reflector to bounce a little light back on to the dark side of the shell. The flash was triggered by a Yongnuo RF603N.

I know that this isn't a shell, but it's kind of related so I put it in my Shell set which can be seen here ......... www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157626043932290/
