Dr. Javitt Explains his Work and Research
Dr. Javitt was among the first to demonstrate a link between NMDA dysfunction and schizophrenia.
He was among the first to test new classes of NMDA-based treatments for schizophrenia and has recently initiated studies of NMDA receptor antagonists in the treatment of depression; and of brain stimulation methods, like transcranial direct current stimulation.
Dr. Javitt has published over 200 original research articles on topics related to schizophrenia, with over 4400 cumulative citations. He has received numerous honors for his work.
He is the senior advisor to the Herzog Clinical Brain Research Center, where he has been working in collaboration with the division of psychiatry for many years. He is a visiting scientist there.
