Down to nowhere
RH 297030/1952
Very much the workhorse of the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway at Porthhmadog is this (very heavily modified) Ruston. It was built in 1952 as a 40DL type (w/n 297030). After arriving at Porthmadog in 1980, it was substantially rebuilt, receiving a Perkins engine and a much larger cab. Air brakes allow it to operate the lines passenger trains, as it was doing on Wednesday 19th July 2023. The loco is seen here at Gelert's Farm, the operational base for the WHHR.
