Viburnum buds!
This is the same shrub that was giving the finger earlier in the season.
New shrub to me, planted it last summer, so had no idea what it was to look like throughout the winter and spring. I got worried at one point, the bud heads swolled up - I thought the shrub had a fungus. Turns out, it was just all of this budding waiting to pop open!
This should be a very fragrant blossom, heavy spice scent. Not sure if it bears any fruit for the birds though.
