Clouds "on fire".
Strong winds off the Pacific blew clouds rapidly east across the Los Angeles Basin then up and over the San Jacinto Mountains. Streaks of cloud caught the very last rays of sunset. 5 minutes later the colours had gone, though faint grey streaks still showed.
