Resilience 3

Resilience: "adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma or stress".

This lonely bush is surviving where little else can survive, being subjected to bright sunlight, daytime heat, cold nights, seasonal high winds and very little rain, made more severe by climatic change.

My photo was taken in 1971 during a road trip stop in Utah's Monument Valley, USA; the scene of many a Western movie, characterised by buttes and mesas in spectacular settings.

Photoshopped only to remove the purple tinge that plagues many of my slides from this era.

Pentax ME, Epson V500 scan of 35mm Kodachrome slide.

(see also 'Resilience 1', a tree in Yosemite and 'Resilience 2', a silversword plant in Haleakala Crater on Maui, Hawaii in my 'Nature' album).
