Bhaktapur - Harmonium Player

A very kind local we met brought us to a small temple complex, tucked well away from the crowds of central Bhaktapur. A few Nepalis were gathered in the temple rectory singing devotionals, accompanied by a half-broken tabla and this harmonium player.

If you've never heard a harmonium, well...it sounds like a cat's caterwauling passed through a vocoder. Second only to the accordion in its approximation of nails running down a chalkboard. But somehow, when it's accompanied by voices, percussion, and other instruments, it sounds perfectly okay.
