It is with great sadness that I write this as I have idea what the fate of the landmark Garden Cleaners neon sign will be...............Several 50mph wind gust's around midnite twsited this classic Flashtric Sign Company sign off its post and it came crashing down to the ground.
Mother called me this morning with the bad news and I rushed right over.
I spoke with somebody there who didn't know why the sign fell, but told them about the previous nights wind.
His insurance company was supposed to come and look at the sign. I asked him if he thought about having the sign fixed or restored and he wasn't sure.
I told the man the sign date's back close to 60 years. I pointed out many of the salvagable piece' s off the sign and told him of it being porcelain enamal finish.
Update: 3:30 pm The sign has been hauled away...
