Anthony White Thunder

When I last saw Anthony White Thunder he was in my 9th grade classroom at Little Wound School. Unlike most the others—William Bull Bear, Charlotte Kills Straight, Amos One Feather, Nancy Broken Rope—Anthony was outgoing, talkative, easy to like and get to know. Not much of a scholar, he dropped out before he could graduate and drifted into an idle life, part-time jobs, waking up in the drunk tank at the tribal jail, wallowing around like an old buffalo. Girl friend here and there but never married, and now at 57 he ponders his future, wonders if he should sell his little plot of inherited land and move on to Rapid City or Denver.
