Spectacular view

View over the Mesopothamian Plain / Syrian Desert.

This is my last photo of Mardin. I made many many more here, but the journey has to continue.

We will first bring a visit to the Deyrulzafaran Monastery, then we drive to Diyarbakır, a large city with a population of which more then 90% is Kurdish.

We will bring a visit also to the famous Nemrut Dağı, a 2150 m. high mountain in southeastern Turkey, notable for the summit where a number of large statues are erected around what is assumed to be a royal tomb from the 1st century BC. It is referred as the pantheon of the Armenian gods.

From there we will visit Şanlıurfa (also named Urfa) nearby the city Kobani in Syria which is so badly in the news today. We will also visit Harran, the place where Abraham should have lived, nearly on the border with Syria.

And there will be more. Let yourself be surprised......
