2018 - The stunning wilderness of the Vanil Noir
The Vanil Noir erects from the earth like a petrified wave of an ancient time. The cross at the very top (2'389 meters) is aimed at protecting humans that endeavour in such a steep wilderness. From this point of view we are looking at the south east face. The north west face is even steeper.
The end of the foreground ridge is the "Tour de Doréna", and the peak in the background is the "Dent des Bimis".
Looking carefully we can see the alpine trail starting at the left bottom side of the image and then following the ridge. The last hundred meters before arriving at the cross almost makes you dizzy but the view from there is awe inspiring. Form the summit the trail continues to the north but it is not visible in the image.
