Fiat 8V Rapi - 1954

At the 1952 Geneva Show, Fiat announced a high performance 2-seater aerodynamic coupé - the 8V or "Otto Vu". It was the first Fiat with independent suspension front and rear. The engine came in 2 forms : a 115 bhp-version revving up to 6.000 rpm, and a more powerful variant producing 127 bhp @ 6.600 rpm. The 8V distinguished itself in motor sports events and clinched the 1954 Italian sports car championship. This is the factory body called Rapi, after its designer. Many other versions exist with bodies by the most famous "Carrozzerias" of that era. Total 8V production was 114, the Miata's with the same name not included.
