Rolls-Royce Phantom 1 Coupé - 1927
Coachwork by Martin & King
After the death of Charles S. Rolls at the controls of his Wright plane on July 12, 1910, Henry Royce settled in the South of France, at Rayol-Canadel in the Var with a handful of engineers. It was in 1925 from this Var property that Henry Royce studied the new Silver Ghost or New Phantom, each modification of which was validated on site and sent to the factory in England. With a classic and traditional construction of the brand, only the power of the engine was a real progress, 106 hp instead of 60/70 hp of the Ghost.
