DAF P500 Concept - 1968
In 1967 Studio Michelotti was asked to design a 'large' DAF. The project was dubbed P500. Within a year Michelotti presented a design that was in perfect harmony with the spirit of the times. It was a spacious 4-door car with a length of 4,3 meters. The first 4-door DAF ever.
Project P500 was ended in 1970 and the car quietly disappeared. Once again the decision had been determined by the cost factor. The decision was mainly based on the financial risks that introducing a completely new model would entail. However, a lot of experience was gained that would prove to be useful when working on later models.
