Porsche 944 Cabriolet Concept - 1985

The first transaxle cabriolet

- With the great success of the 911 Carrera Cabriolet, Porsche thought about an open-top version of the Type 944 as well.

- The first 944 Cabriolet study was unveiled at the 1985 International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt am Main.

- The flamingo-pink exhibition car featured a 183 hp four-valve engine with catalytic converter, plus airbag and ABS.

- The 944 Cabriolet did not go into production until late 1988, in S2 and Turbo variants.
