The last photo before the light failed and we drove on. We drove east to Hyannis and then south on Highway 61 via Arthur to Ogallala for the night.
It was dark by the time we started south on 61, and the 70-ish miles on that road were the darkest miles I've ever seen. Very few lights were to be seen, and even fewer other cars were met. There was nothing open in Arthur as we passed through, and coming into Ogallala felt like entering a major city after seeing nothing for 70 miles.
