Timber engineering
This is one of a selection of the photographs that I took to illustrate my book “Cycling Manchester to The Malverns.” Some of the photographs posted here appear in the book, others don’t, and there are quite a few in the book that are not posted here.
The Middlewood Way stops following the course of the railway line down from Marple just north of Macclesfield because, from here on south, the land has been re-used and the A523 dual carriageway runs along what used to be the railway’s route into the centre of town. Cyclists and walkers are well catered for, however, in the form of this timber bridge that spans the road, and the Middlewood Way continues south on the other side of it.
