FVG - San Pietro in Carnia
La chiesa è la più antica delle 11 storiche pievi della Carnia ed è considerata la chiesa madre. E' l'edificio religioso principale della Val But. E' menzionata per la prima volta nell'808, quando sostituì la precedente basilica di Zuglio distrutta dagli Avari.
L'attuale edificio risale al 1312 su preesistenti insediamenti e con varie modifiche successive, fu sede vescovile nel medioevo nell'ambito della poi soppressa diocesi di Zuglio.

The church is the oldest of the 11 historic parish churches of Carnia and is considered the mother church. It is the main religious building of the Val But. It is mentioned for the first time in 808, when it replaced the previous basilica of Zuglio destroyed by the Avars.
The current building dates back to 1312 on pre-existing settlements and with various subsequent modifications, it was a bishopric in the Middle Ages within the then suppressed diocese of Zuglio.
