decision tree

If the camera equivalent to the human eye is a 50mm lens with an appeture of about f8, then any deviation from this is a creative decision.Even if you use the full automatic setting, this is a decision. So is photography art or science? In the early days of photography, photos were seen as "the truth" compared to say a painting, which is an impression. This led to the French photographers taking images of all French monuments and important buildings. As it was a historical record. So when people experimented with photography, the public and critics rebelled saying these images were no longer the truth. Science is truth! Any deviation is art. A slow shutter speed recording a waterfall with blurred water is the reason some people buy a camera. Others want a fast shutter speed to get lumpy bumpy water in stop motion. Neither are "right" as water is always flowing.

These random Monday morning thoughts are just a preamble to explain that I took just one lens to photograph this tree. A lens baby, specifically to blur the foreground to isolate the tree from distractions. In colour it is a very green and blue image. Originally all images would have been in mono, so not really true to how the eye sees the scene. Let me know your thoughts.
