In A League Of Their Own

Slade Wilson escorted his friend, Floyd Lawton out of the dreadful cesspit known as Black Gate Prison. Behind them, the two of them left a large trail of bodies, as many notorious assassins do. Floyd broke the silence as they walked down the street.

"Uh... hey, thanks, Slade. I really appreciate you gettin' me out of that hell hole. I really owe you one."

"Don't worry, Floyd, old friend! This one's on me! After all, you DID save my ass a few times in Bludhaven, am I right?"

"Indeed, you are right. Were you able to speak with Ariadne like I asked?"

"I was. However she was not happy to oblige. Perhaps once the League has been well established she will change her mind."

"Oh. Well... thanks, Slade."

The two men walked in silence. Floyd swiftly broke into a house to find civilian clothes, and produced a vest, shirt and pants. Slade led his companion to the abandoned subway entrance that led to the New League Of Assassin's headquarters.

The headquarters of the New League was based in a large, abandoned shipping yard on the outskirts of Gotham. Slade punched a code into a keypad on one of the buildings and entered, with Floyd following behind him.

"Oh yeah, one thing" Slade muttered as he removed his balaclava. "Jade isn't too thrilled to hear you're back. She thought she might be taking charge if we left you. She'll have to learn that we leave no man behind, eh, Floyd?"

"That's right."

The doors in front of the two assassins parted to reveal a large training room. A man with jet-black hair approached Floyd.

"Merlyn? Hey, man! Great to see you!"

"Floyd, I think I speak for us all when I say this; I'm glad you're alright!"

"Hear-freaking-hear, Merl." A bored feminine voice came from across the room. Floyd looked to see none other, than Jade Nguyen standing by a stack of crates, clutching her katana. Floyd rolled his eyes.

"Missed you too, Jade." Floyd muttered.

Merlyn shook hands with Floyd, and went to go sit by the crates.

Out of the corner of his one eye, Slade could see a new recruit with ginger hair hacking away at a dummy in body armour with an axe.

"Hey, Jade. Who's this little zero?"

"Oh, him? Yeeeeah, he just showed up. He said he was good, and after a few practice sessions, turns out he's... beyond good. Moves like the Bat, if you don't mind the comparison."

Slade approached the new member.

"Son, what is your name?"

"Todd, sir. Jason Todd."

"Well, Jason Todd, welcome to the New. League. Of Assassins!"

The room went quiet, and all eyes turned on young Jason. He'd have a lot to prove he'd soon find out if he wanted to become as respected as his new companions.
