Class "S-15" arriving at Grosmont alongside a Co-Co diesel of ex-BR stock.

This class of locomotive was designed and built in two batches. The first designed by R.W. Urie, the latter by R.E.L. Maunsell. The locomotive shown here is of the latter type produced between 1927 and 1936. They worked for the London and South Western Railway (later Southern Railway, and from 1948 by the Southern Region of British Railways) mainly for local service between Salisbury and Exeter.

This engine is far from its homeland.
