Headed out with Mike to a secret location known only to ourselves and Batman located atop the Entertainment Centre car park. Luckily the stair access to the elevator shaft was open and we got a great high level perspective of the city.
We were hoping for some nice car light trails but the level of traffic was far lower than we expected and struggled on that basis.
This is quite a complicated shot despite the simple appearance.
I processed 6 exposures setting the white balance to neutralise the strong colour cast of the street lighs. I stacked them to get the light trails.
I then processed a single frame with white balance set for the skyline and sky.
I used a colour selection to mask out the roadway and bits affected by the street lights.This allowed me to blend the two exposures together.
I then applied some perspective correction in CS as I was shooting at a bit of an angl and therefore the buildings were all falling over.
A bit of NIK later and here you have it.
A great morning out with Mike. Note to anyone else contemplating this location, the car park resets its fees at 6am every morning so if you enter before then, you will end up payin a bit more than expected for parking.
