Goldent Ragwort

Although this plant is often cultivated and grown in flower gardens it is actually a native wildflower. This particular plant was blooming in a hedgerow behind the barn. It first apeared about two years ago and has now multiplied until there is a nice golden patch along the split rail fence.

Field notes: In addition to displayng a brilliant yellow bloom, golden Ragwort is known for its medicinal properites. And has long been used as an anti-inflammatory, cough suppressent and muscle relaxer. It should however, be noted that like many herbs and medicinals it has its own accompanying side affects and should be used with care .
