Yuletide Sentiments

Taking our Christmas picture.

The yearly fun and games.

Then, as he's leaving he says, "Love you."

And I say, "Love you, too."

And there is a pause.

When we realize what we said.

And that we meant it.

We feel caught somewhere in the awkward middle ground

between flight and contentment.

But what a beautiful feeling.
