Whodini on the Oldies station: Friends

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vxni-FM-UVA

Friends ‎– how many of us have them? - Friends ‎– ones we can depend on

Helen: (she, Cheri, and Tracy are sitting in the Samuels' living room drinking various warm drinks, a fire crackling in the fireplace, and Helen leaves the couch, going to the foyer when Dan Samuels enters, taking off his rain-soaked hat and coat) I'm so glad you're home! (hugging her husband) Are you all right?

Dan: (holding her) I'm okay, honey. What about you? I thought I told you to go to the hospital?

Helen: You said, if they told me I had to go, and they didn't. It's just a little bump, really. The ice might have tripped me up, but the snow softened the fall.

Whodini on the Oldies station: Is a word we use everyday - Most the time we use it in the wrong way

Cheri: I tried to get her to lie down, but she wouldn't hear of it.

Helen: As if anyone is going to get to sleep, tonight. I heard something about bodies in the woods?

Dan: I can't say much, because it's still under investigation, but we did find bodies. Right now, it appears that it was probably some kind of animal attack.

Whodini on the Oldies station: Because a friend is somebody you judge for yourself

Cheri: An animal?

Tracy: Like a bear?

Dan: Bear, puma maybe, something big. But that's all I'm going to say about it, for now. Until we figure out what's going on, I want everyone to stay out of the woods, and stay sharp when you're outside.

Helen: Do you think that's what I heard? Dan, was one of them a little girl? (sad and mortified)

Dan: (drawing her close again) No, honey. There wasn't any little girl, and the bodies had been there a little while, frozen, so you didn't hear anything from them.

Whodini on the Oldies station: Some you grew up with, around the way - And you're still real close too this very day

Helen: I guess it was just my imagination again?

Marcus: (standing just inside the treeline of the narrow strip of woods on the edge of the Samuels' backyard, watching the two couples inside the house) It wasn't your imagination, Helen, but you need to forget about that little girl. She's only going to bring you trouble. (the little girl steps into a dull patch of light cast by one of the Samuels' outdoor lights) There you are. I knew you'd come back, even though I warned you to stay away.

Whodini on the Oldies station: And then there's some we wish we never knew at all - And this list goes on, again and again

Girl: The Old Bird isn't going to get his way, this time.

Marcus: You said so before, little one, and look what happened.

Girl: Helen got away.

Marcus: But you didn't. Helen broke her promise to you.

Girl: It wasn't her fault. She forgot, that's all. She was so scared, she forgot, but she's starting to remember.

Marcus: You're putting her in danger by helping her remember. She's safer if she forgets.

Girl: (looking somberly at the house) No one is safe.

Whodini on the Oldies station: Or else I was at your house, or you was at mine - Then came the arguments and all kinds of problems

Dan: It might have been a kid playing a prank, honey. Some of the parents brought their younger kids to the rehearsal, too.

Helen: I hope none of the kids realized what was going on!

Dan: I have a feeling there are all kinds of rumors gong on right now, but I doubt the little kids are hearing much about it.

Helen: It's just so awful. (she rubbed her head)

Whodini on the Oldies station: Friends ‎– before we go any further, let's be - Friends

Dan: I came home to check on you, and to get the theatre keys. The Staties have taken over the investigation and it's going to be an all-nighter, maybe longer. They're going to be using the theatre.

Helen: (nods) I understand. (she goes to her coat, hanging in the foyer, fishes keys from one of its pockets, and brings them to Dan) It's like a bad dream I can't wake up from.

Dan: For all of us, honey. (kisses her forehead) Thanks for bringing her home and staying with her. (to Cheri and Tracy) Where are the girls?

Tracy: We dropped Amber off with Paradise and Brad Dylan. Linda's looking after them, tonight.

Whodini on the Oldies station: She even had a set of keys to your home - And you shared mostly everything you owned

Cheri: Alex is upstairs with your girls. She and Holly were asking if Holly could stay the night with us.

Helen: I don't want to put the two of you out--

Cheri: Don't be dumb, chum. (she gives Helen a friendly, one-armed hug) I think the girls want to be with their friends tonight, with everything that's going on.

Helen: (nods) Okay, thank you.

Dan: Great, then you should be able to get some rest, without Hurricane Holly and Cyclone Stacy storming around.

Whodini on the Oldies station: But deep inside you know that's just another lie

Helen: (she, Cheri, and Tracy laugh at that) Dan, you're terrible. (gives him a playful stomach punch) I'll go tell the girls. (she leaves the living room, going upstairs)

Cheri: (after Helen's upstairs) Well, with the play on hold, she should be able to get some real rest.

Tracy: What about that little girl she keeps hearing?

Cheri: I truly think she is just overworked and overtired.

Tracy: And nothing to do with that "lost summer?"

Dan: Cheri.

Cheri: Don't be pissy, Dan, he's my husband. Wives talk to their husbands. And it's not like the whole town doesn't know the story.

Dan: I get that, but I also don't want a lot of new speculation going around about what might have happened to her.

Whodini on the Oldies station: But nevertheless, I'll say it again - That these are the people that we call friends

Helen: (coming downstairs) Are the three of you talking about me?

Dan: Only about how much we care about you.

Helen: (smiling suspiciously) Uh huh. Well, I care about all of you, too.

Whodini on the Oldies station: Friends ‎– how many of us have them? - Friends ‎– before we go any further, let's be - Friends

(Thank you to Erebus for having way too much fun playing Dan Samuels. -giggles- )
