Happy Birthday America! [Explored]
Celebrating July 4th, 1776 with this photo of a Decorah eagle over an American flag. John Adams wrote the following letter to his wife Abigail on 7/3/76 while the Second Continental Congress was debating the Declaration of Independence that was finalized on 7/4/76. Happy Birthday America!
"The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more."
Isn't it interesting that the US and Great Britain, or the UK, did, after this disagreement, become great allies over the centuries that have passed who have together shaped world history!
