American Goldfinch (male) [Explored]

This finch is the Iowa state bird. It is about 5" or 13 cm in length. He eats seeds and insects.

 

I managed to get this shot in the morning just as the sun illuminated the bird with shadows for a background. It stayed in place only long enough for a single quick shot!
