The heaviest bird capable of flight is the kori bustard, Ardeotis kori.

These southern African birds can weigh up to 19 kilogrammes and have a wingspan of up to 2.75 metres.

While they can fly, these hefty birds spend most of their time on the ground foraging for food such as caterpillars, dung beetles and a variety of grasses and seeds.
