H&NH "Shorty" Combine no. W-25
This "shorty" combine was originally designed by Glenn Holland as a nod to the late John Allen, based on a car he built for his Gorre & Dapheted model railroad.
Glenn shared the design of the car with me as a gift, but the style is somewhat older than the mid 1950's I typically model. However, the New Haven Railroad - like many other railroads - often kept older cars around in work service, and thus I thought it would be a fitting inclusion on my wreck consist! The Hartford & New Haven was a predecessor to the NH that operated from 1839-1872, and through a bit of historical fiction I decided to letter the car for that road. Cars in work service on the NH received the "W" prefix on their road numbers.
Obvious credit to Glenn Holland for the design of the car. Credit to Cam Miller for the decal art.
