Santa Monica Road Races Feb 26(Vanderbilt) and 28(Intl Grand Prize) 1914-Entry List-for the 2 races in Pomona Progress Feb 17 1914

Vanderbilt Cup

The two Masons entered in the Vand Cup race appear to be privately owned or entered and may explain the lack of 'MASON' signage on the Drivers uniforms, 'Oilzum' is what appears.

Mercer and Stutz are the only two manufacturers listed as entrants.

Sam McKee of Los Angeles is acknowledged as the owner of the No 10 Mason driven by Billy Carlson and Mack Sennett of Los Angeles is listed as owner/entrant of the No 6 Mason driven by a youthful Dave Lewis.

Both Masons are listed as 398 ci displacement, far below all but the Sunbeam in ci.

Intl. Grand Prize

The Mason cars were renumbered for the GP event, perhaps due to conflicting GP car number assignments.

Eddie Rickenbacker in No 20 Mason was a late entry, news lists entrant as Sam McKee of Los Angeles but ChampcarStats.com list 'Mason' as Sponsor/Entrant, he lasted 33 laps before broken crankshaft.

The No 5 (again, was probably renumbered) Mason driven by Carlson (apparently another late entry) is listed in Champcarstats.com as entered/sponsored by Mason and Intl GP Entrant of Carlson's No 5 Mason listed as Mrs. L. K. Northam. failed to join the starting grid due to crankshaft problems. Mason No5 reported to have experienced engine failure on the way to the track.
