Babe Stapp Congratulating Eddie Meyer at Legion Ascot opening Race, January 20th, 1924. Eddie Meyer started repairing Model T Fords in Redlands, California in 1919 and became a successful race car driver, racing a Rajo Model T with great success in 1923 and 1924. A few of their more legendary employees of Eddie Meyer Engineering included Ed Pink, Louis Senter (Ansen), Tom Sparks, Phil Remington, Ray Brown and Fred Carrillo of Carrillo Rods Fame, but all of these guys went on to fabled careers in the automotive performance industry. Eddie Meyer Engineering Company produced outstanding flathead speed equipment from the late 1940’s through the early 1950’s. Eddie was Indy 500 Winner Louie Meyer's brother, and he was racing at Reading, PA in 1928 when Louis won! —

They ran 18 laps and had to stop due to dust. George Bentel and the thousands of fans could not have been very happy, nor was the AAA Contest Board with the IMCA being signed as the sanctioning group at this brand new 'outlaw' track.
