Madison County, NY 1940's Buffalo-Springfield triple-drum roller

Engine: Waukesha six cylinder gas

Transmission: direct drive

This news paper clipping dated from June 4, 1953 and shows the county's big, triple drum Buffalo-Springfield roller in action. The paving project was on Schoolheimer Road between Canastota and Oneida with Charles Wimett at the controls.

What a beast this roller was. I can't find much data about these but that frame design looks much like the steam powered rollers Buffalo-Springfield was building up to the early 1930's. This one is definitely gas powered. My guess is this machine dates to sometime in the mid or later 1930's but any experts please chime in.

My friend Jeff remembers this big roller which made an impression on a young boy no doubt! That means the roller was still around to at least the late 1950's or early '60's.
