on the Manly ferry, Sydney, January 2016. This is one of the Freshwater class ferries that are being phased out of service from 2021 despite widespread community opposition. These double ended ferries carrying just over 1000 passengers are a Sydney icon, and can cross the heads in all but the most severe sea conditions. Their replacement will be small 400 person capacity twin hull ferries that will not run in rough seas.
