Im Mai 2001 wurde mit den ersten Baumaßnahmen begonnen, am 27. Juni wurde der Grundstein gelegt, am 25. Januar 2002 erfolgte das Richtfest. Höhepunkt war hier eine kurze Einlage von Artisten des Chinesischen Staatszirkus. Der dem Himmelstempel in Peking nachempfundene Bau kostete etwa 6,5 Millionen Euro. Insgesamt wurden 72 Container mit Teilen von Steinfiguren, -säulen und Möbeln aus China importiert.

The first construction work began in May 2001, the foundation stone was laid on June 27th, and the topping-out ceremony took place on January 25th, 2002. The highlight here was a short performance by artists from the Chinese State Circus. The building, modeled on the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, cost around 6.5 million euros. A total of 72 containers containing parts of stone figures, columns and furniture were imported from China.
