Er umgab das Becken mit einem kunstvollen Arrangement aus kolossalen Säulen, einem dorischen Rundtempel und einer Pyramide, die sich im Wasser spiegelten, einer antiken Theatern nachempfundenen Ruinenwand und einer natürlichen Baumkulisse.
In the middle of the 18th century, Frederick the Great had a water basin built on the ruin mountain to feed the fountains in Sanssouci Park. He surrounded the pool with an artistic arrangement of colossal columns, a round Doric temple and a pyramid reflected in the water, a ruined wall modeled on ancient theaters and a natural tree backdrop.
