Project Flickr:- Strangers

Meet Larry.

 

Larry was the first person I met today in my quest to photographed strangers.

 

I was actually taking photos of the heart shaped objects along Michigan Avenue in Chicago when he came up to me. He didn't ask for money nor food. He just wanted to know what I was doing. I told him.

 

We talked a little bit more. He told me he is originally from Alabama...he is 51yrs old...he came to Illinois 4yrs ago...had some odd jobs but couldn't hold on to any of them.

 

I think I know why - he was slurring his words quite a bit.

 

I ask if I could take a photo of him for my project. He said yes without hesitation and suggested standing next to the heart. Despite the bitter cold and the funny stares from the passersby, he maintained his pose.

 

Larry is a very proud person.

 

At the end, he wanted to shake my hand. I gave him a hug.

 

And yes...I also gave him money for his effort.

 

Next time, you'll get to meet Chris and Hank - no ordinary couple
