Remember when I mattered?

I wasn't so rough and tattered.

I was important, I had a name.

Now I am a girl, what a shame.

 

You don't talk to me, I don't blame you.

I wouldn't talk to me either, to tell you the truth.

I am not the same, I never will be,

And I'm not so lucky that you'll fall in love with me.

 

Remember when I mattered though, can you give it a shot?

It's not that I want you to love me, I know you cannot.

I just want you to think of me how I was, not the way I am now.

I want you to see the woman with a name, I want you to know who I am.
