Flanary-CopperCreek Match Up-6-30-86

On the afternoon of June 30, 1986, CSX and NS graciously agreed to match up trains for my camera (and David DeVault--who was on top at the south end of the former Clinchfield bridge) at Copper Creek. The top train is a Carbo-Bulls Gap mixed coal train with 115 loads. The bottom is a Bulls Gap to Andover empty unit train. My reward for this adventure (besides the photos) was a ga-zillion chiggers. I itched for two weeks and ran through four or five bottles of clear nail polish. You have to paint each one and eventually suffocate the little SOBs. Each train was only delayed about 15 minutes for this scene. This was before drones, so I had to climb high on the hill to get a clear shot. The truck and tent belong to a local fisherman.
