Smiling buddhas

Left: guide Bishal - right: sherpa Jashtin

Bishal's life reads like a thrilling story as he had to escape on his 16th for a kidnapping by the maoist guerilla in the civil war that led to the end of Nepal as a kingdom. Living homeless in Pokhara he started as a sherpa and became one of the best mountain guides for the Annapurna region. Only one year after his escape he dared to make contact with his parents who were supposing he had been killed by the rebels...

I've seldom met such a warm and positive lover of life.

His partner Jashtin is like a bloodbrother, modest but persevere.

Their companionship made our 5 day hike into an unforgettable life experience.
