Scroll and Key

Scroll and Key is a fraternity or "secret society" formed at Yale College about 1842. Alumni from the fraternity incorporated as the Kingsley Trust Association in 1860 and hired Richard Morris Hunt , to design this building. The Spanish Moorish cube of marble was described as " advertising mystery and inviting speculation". It was completed in 1870 at a cost of $50,000.
