In May 2013 I (Richard Babington) sent up a Canon 550D DSLR in a gyroscopically image stabilised package to photograph the upper atmosphere. Whilst many balloons with cameras have been sent up by amateurs before, I believe this is the first time an amateur photographer has sent up a DSLR in a stabilised package before. This is a stitched photo from the best of the shots from up top.
More info on the overall construction of the image stabilised package here

Thanks to Geoff Mather, G8DHE, 360.g8dhe.net/ for constructing the panorama from the Canon 550D images for me.
