My Lovely Great-Grandmother / Restored Version
Restored version of an old sepia photograph of my great-grandmother made by my remarkable flickr friend Robert Silverwood. Thank you so much for your wonderful work, Robert.
My great-grandmother Ida Marie Doriette Frieda Röhrig (1882-1931), approx. 1905. She was the wife of my Verdun great-grandfather www.flickr.com/photos/90983012@N00/393375003/in/set-72157... and she is the mother of my great-uncle www.flickr.com/photos/90983012@N00/2747875608/ on my mother's side. My great-grandmother married in January 1910 in Karlsruhe, Southern Germany, my great-grandfather. She was a housekeeper and she had 4 children. Unfortunately my great-grandmother was a cancer victim and she died in 1931 at the age of 48 years.
Otto von Habsburg once said: “If you don’t know your past, you don’t know your future !"
For this reason I am so fascinated by history and my own family history. I believe in destiny and I know that everything happens for a reason. I am very proud of this beautiful photo of my great-grandmother.
