Grey Partridge

Perdix perdix - Adapted to grassland environments they spread west from the steppes in tandem with agricultural development arriving in Britain at the end of the last ice age. They flourished especially during the late 1800s and early 1900s when the land was intensively cultivated and predators kept to a minimum. The Grey Partridge has since declined probably as a result of post war changes in agricultural and gameshooting practices.
