Flooring "Black Adhesive"
The linoleum adhesive is a fibrous, tarry layer very hard to remove especially without scarring the wood underneath. Per flooring forums, tried a small patch w mineral spirits.. clearly big big job to remove. The fibers are likely asbestos, I have read. Better to seal off with leveling cement, I suggest, and put new on top. There is some rotting under washer as expected, but patchable
