People in life have the need to hold onto things, whether it’s a lost loved one or child’s favorite toy. Holding on to things is something everyone does. My goal in my conceptual series is to convey the emotions behind the love a person has for something they want to hold on to. I want to show the attachment behind an object or memory a person wants to hold onto. I also want the pictures to remind the viewer of something they hold or have held onto in their life.
I was able to find things worth holding in the eyes of any person. Through my photos I made them all black and white to create a more somber feeling. My first photo shows two peoples hands. One hand over the other reaching for it. It symbolizes someone trying to hold onto a relationship or a loved one that they don’t want to let go of. In Photoshop I darkened the picture to give it a since of sadness that I wanted to portray in my conceptual series. This photo shows the emotions behind holding onto a relationship with someone. In the fourth photo of my conceptual series shows a little girl with a blanket. She holds it by her face to show how much emotional connection there is between her and the blanket. The blanket shows a sense of protection as well as it is wrapped around. It gives the viewer a feeling of having let go of something they’ve held onto as a protector of comfort. All of my pictures show these types of feelings.
