Carnarvon Castle

Caernarfon Castle was not the first structure to be located on that site, however. Before the castle was built, there was once a Roman fort located there, and after that, a Norman motte and bailey castle. The fact that these fortresses existed here before shows just how effective the location was for defence of the area
