Partially logged forest, southern British Columbia, Canada

An altered landscape: in the middle of the photo, a logging road curves through a cut-over area: note the open areas with logs and tree trunks lying on the ground (zoom in to see these), and the near-uniform size of the young green trees near the road (probably planted in an effort to 'renew' the forest). Undisturbed forest forms the nearer hillsides in the background, with the exception of the cleared strip along the power line at upper left. Some of the bare areas on the background hillsides are bedrock cliffs.

Location: near the towns of Greenwood and Rock Creek, near Highway 3 and the USA border in southern British Columbia, western Canada.
